Stage 2

Prince Alfred Ãâ·ÑAƬ Carpark

Feedback from our parent community and reviews of traffic management and pedestrian safety on campus, has informed our vision to remove the majority of vehicles from the Ãâ·ÑAƬ campus.

In 2022, approval was granted by the Norwood, Payneham and St Peters Council to build a multi-level carpark on land owned by the Ãâ·ÑAƬ, adjacent to the current boarding house. The carpark location enjoys dual frontage on Ãâ·ÑAƬ Street and Little Young Street. The final plans and designs for the carpark are currently being assessed by the Ãâ·ÑAƬ.

It is important for the Ãâ·ÑAƬ to provide car parking for staff, parents and visitors to the Ãâ·ÑAƬ, so as not to encroach on local businesses and residents in surrounding streets. The new carpark will accommodate 400+ vehicles and include air bridge access across Little Young Street and The Parade West to provide pedestrians with a safe entry route into the campus.

A number of onsite short-term parks will be retained for parents with children attending the Early Learning Centre and junior primary years as well as a drop and go area within the campus.

In addition to providing a safer and cleaner environment for pedestrians within the Ãâ·ÑAƬ grounds, the relocation of vehicles from the current carpark to the south of Pirie St drive will enable the Ãâ·ÑAƬ to reimagine new facilities for our Secondary School on this site (Stage 4).

Key components of Stage 2

  • A purpose-built multi-level carpark for staff, parents and visitors
  • Dual access from Ãâ·ÑAƬ Street and Little Young Street to minimise traffic impacts
  • An air bridge across Little Young Street connecting to the existing air bridge across The Parade West to provide safe passage for pedestrians onto the campus
  • Potential for retail space within the carpark footprint
